The above two screenshots have
been blown up a bit so you can
see them better.
The game displayed through
a RGB cable and running 60 Hz
will look much better then
these screenshots!!!
Another screenshot below is
the way you'll play it on a
horizontal screen.
You'll miss a quarter of the playfield.
More screenshots further on.
There are six characters to choose
from. All of which have different
speeds and weapons.
Something you might find usefull
are their moving speeds.
Their speeds never changes since
there are no speed-ups and
power-ups don't increase your
speed.
Character: Speed:
1) Alucard *****
2) Marion ***
3) Valpiro **
4) Tavia ****
5) Hei-Cob *
6) Morrigan ****** (press up on "?")
7) Aine ****** (press down on "?")
Aine and morrigan are selected by
pressing respectively down or up
while standing on the big
question-mark.
Another feature is that by
pressing start from the moment the
Dreamcast logo appears, (after your
game is inserted and you press
power on your Dreamcast) and holding
start you will after about half a
minute enter a -Test Mode- which is
very cool.
(I think this trick will work
on all versions of the game.)
There's even the possibility to enter
a Maintenance Code. I have yet to find
that code.
A Psikyo employee told me that the
code was only used in the arcade
version and doesn't work for the
Dreamcast version. .........anyone?
Gunbird 2 is the only Dreamcast game
that has a "vertical arcade mode" on
the DC.
Giga Wing 1 & 2, Mars Matrix &
Zero Gunner 2 don't have
"vertical arcade modes".
Zero Gunner 2 however doesn't need it
because the game scrolls
multidirectional and it's a
very good game the way it is.
Would it have been designed for a
vertical monitor in the arcade and
DC versions I can't help but feel it
could've been even better.
Whereas Giga Wing 1 & 2 & Mars Matrix
are conversions of arcade games which
didn't feature a "vertical mode" in
their arcade forms and are just
o.k. games, but could've been so much
more.
