DonPachi review for the Sega Saturn

Released in 1996 by .
This game is the prequel to Do DonPachi. (as if you didn't know allready)
This game has something none of the other shooters have; an option to adjust the screen size & the position.
Just press pause while playing.
Fortunatly this game has infinite continues.
Well anyway, this game has a full screen "vertical arcade mode".
Check the How to.. section of this site for instructions on how to succesfully rotate your monitor.
All the sprites are smaller than in Do DonPachi, but it's still a great game.

there are three types of attack:
1 rapid shot
2 continuous laser shot beam
3 smart bomb*
*the smart bomb reacts different when you are pressing the continuous laser shot beam.
Here the smart bomb turns into an even bigger & wider continuous laser shot beam. Very Usefull for bosses & larger enemies.
Unlike Do DonPachi this game has considerable slowdown.

The fighters speeds

speed = ***(3)             speed = **(2)             speed = *(1)

Verdict:

Playability 10
Music 9,3
Lastability 7,5
Graphics 9,2

Overall 8,9

It's still a worthy purchase even after you obtain Do DonPachi.
