FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How much do your props cost?
It varies depending on the piece and complexity, the cost of materials, and the amount of time it takes for me to do a piece.. there may be a factor of the current workload involved as well. I can't really give a quote because weapons and accessories vary so much. Do remember that I am NOT a sweatshop.

How long does it take for you to make a prop?
It all depends on on the complexity of the piece of course! though somehting like a basic dagger might take 5 hours or so, many of the more complex ones take longer, upwards of 60 hours+ T_T.. be sure to check the notes on the pieces for more information!

What kinds of tools do you use?
It aslo depends on on the complexity of the piece of course! I'll often roughcut pieces with a tablesaw, mini bandsaw (that REALLY needs a new blade), and a hand jigsaw. Rough shaping is sometimes done with a belt sander, but usually i'll work the shape with handtools like a Surform, rasps, and files to get the accuracy i want & avoid cutting too much off. Theres sometmes a Dremel tool in the mix. Much of it is followed with sandpapers, files, and other tools to finetune things before painting.

But my prop is small, why do you still require at least 90 days lead time??
It's not about the size of the prop getting commissioned, but about fitting it in with not only all the other prop commission work, but also between my regular work & personal life. Actually, when it boils down to it, 90 days isn't really a lot of time at all, and attempts to bribe Father Time have failed miserably!

Do you make metal swords?
I currently don't have the tools or facilities, but I can paint weapons to give them a metallic like finish :)

Do you make armor & accessories?
I won't be making full armor & accessories due to time and having to get measurements and such for the wearer's body. Between the props, non prop work, and other things going on with live both professionally, I can only take a limited number of commissions, and enjoy doing weapons and such a lot more than accessories.

Do you do custom paintjobs?
yes! The prop itself isn't the only thing customizable, and if you want battledamage, a fresh off the factory feel, weathered look, or anything inbetween whatever, go ahead and ask!

Can I buy a prop unpainted for less and paint it myself?
yarp :)

Can you design a custom weapon for me?
Yes! If you're looking for a custom prop, but can't draw your idea and need help, I can help you in getting your idea visualized! :)

Do you have any props planned?
Yes, in an effort to build the portfolio and show a range of my capabilities (and some things i think are REALLY cool!), there might be a surprise weapon cropping up from time to time.. don't hold your breath though, because they will always take a backseat to commissionworks, and all those pesky other things that happen during life...
Look for them in the Works in progress section in the gallery

Do you take requests?
Between commissions, conventions, 2d work, and other personal things, I'm too busy to take requests for weapons.

Are there any weapons that you won't make?
Theres a few weapons that i'll definately be avoiding, but if you have a question about a prop, be sure to email me :).. heres a quick list of them:
-I'm generaly staying away from props that are already mass produced at a high quality (ie kingdom key).. but if you think that I could be much better, you're looking for it as a natural wood display piece, or you really want it because I made it (awwww :3), I'm game!

-that god awful Advent Children buster.. the time and cost for me (and therefore to you) to do a breakapart blade just like the film would be prohibitive, but you're welcome to inquire about a solid nonworking one, or maybe one or two bits that might be removable.. none of that all out movie stuff though XD ...

- the vash gun.. have a long love/hate relationship with that thing. not into sparking a relationship with another one of those :p

Can I have your plans/blueprints?
Please note that like the building of the weapons themselves are but a part of making props, and up to a third of the work is dedicated to extensively researching weapons and (if needed) creating plans. Its like asking a chef for their recipies.. so um, no. If you send me an email asking this question, you'll recieve a link to this faq :)

Whats the maximum dimensions you would go?
Unless you're going to a convention that I'll be driving to, or you live local to me to pick it up (Atlanta area), I'll be most likely mailing them to you... If somethings a massive size, I'll most likely make the prop in components that you can stick together..(ie. I'd build the blade of a 9'sword in say, 3 foot sections that you can connect together..) It also makes for easier transport for you as well, so if you need to fit that 9' sword into a suitcase. If its just -too- big, I'll let you know, but it never hurts to ask neh? Please remember that shipping is not included in the intial quote, which could be a bit higher if you ask for a monster sized prop.

Can you make weapons for my martial arts training?
I technically I can, dependent on the weapon design, but please note that and the strongest wood I tend to have ready access to Red Oak. Its the same wood that many mass produced martial arts trainers are made of. I'm more picky and hand select the wood, avoiding some of the brittle woods that you'll occasionally bump into, and mine are full tang as well (which you won't find on standard mass produced trainers), and you can get them customized. I still can't guarantee weapons, (see question below), though they're designed for light to medium training. PLEASE don't ask me to outfit your entire school with swords! I won't do more than two in any given 3 month time period.

Do you have any kind of prop warranty/guarantee?
Its very limited. I'll be sure to let you know what the prop can tolerate, and I will make it as sturdy as i can within the specs if the piece and materials, but please don't come crying if you tried to chop a tree down with your commissioned foam scythe! If something happened to it during shipping, be sure to contact me immediately! Packages will be shipped with insurance unless you specify otherwise!

Why can't I enter competitions for costume craftsmanship using the prop I commissioned?
Geez, does this REALLY need to be explained?.. craftsmanship competitions are designed where the person entering made all the elements of the work and are judged by the craftsmanship of the elements themselves.. its not fair to anyone to bring in something that someone else made, claiming it as their own work.. If you don't understand that reasoning, then well... its because I said so :P

If its a contest where solely the skit will be judged and such, and commissioned/purchased props are specifically allowed, then it'll be okay... but you MUST give me credit for the work when its entered.

Will you bear my children??? I'll even throw in a box of tictacs!!!
No!

...freak...

.. :p

I have a question, but its not answered here..OMG what do I do???
Thats when you fire me an email! Send questions to: fevereonREMOVETHIS@gmail.com
(be sure to remove the "REMOVETHIS") !

When I sent you an email, I was given a link to this page... Why?
Really wish I was able to answer all your emails, and if it wasn't annswered in te FAQs I would, but honestly, between the commission work, the convention schedule, and personal stuffs, I'm too busy to answer questions that are already answered in the FAQ, and I'll point you here!.. If its not answered in here, I'll prolly send you a more involved response (and if its frequently asked, it'll become part of the FAQ (tis what "Frequently Asked Quesrtions" page is for, neh :3 )

This site is undergoing the last bit of finishing touches, so apologies if some kinks might not be worked out of it quite yet!

A lead time of approximately 3 months is required for all prop commissions (more for complex props!), which means that props at -earliest-, can be completed for you by August 16th (08-16-2008)
