- Why aren't you accepting individual commissions?
- There's many reasons, but the long & short of is, making custom props on commission has taken too much time away from my other work, and I can't afford to do one on one commissions. It takes a long time to build them, answer inquiries and other related emails, and the other stuff that goes along with it all, and juggling it between conventions, illustrating, and other work was downright overwhelming. I need a big chunk of time to "catch up" as well
- So are you still making props?
-
Yes, but instead of doing private commissions, I'll still be making props between my other work, mostly of things I've been having to put off making because of commissions, and stuff I find to be downright COOL. If making them again is feasible and i have the time to do so, I'll make some available to others as well.
- Will you remake props that are already in your gallery?
-
Most of those that are currently in the gallery are what one would call "one offs", meaning that I hadn't planned on making them again, and made no molds or anything. I no longer have them, and they went to the people who commissioned them. There's some (like the chakrams) that were so hellacious, the very thought of doing them again makes me wince. If something IS available, it will be listed here
- Do you take requests/suggestions?
- For the same reasons I'm not doing commissions, I'm not taking requests, sorry. Between commissions, conventions, 2d work, and other personal things, and a list of props i'd like to make thats 20 items deep.
- Well, what WILL you be making then?
-
Theres a good number of props from some game and tv series that I have planned, some for personal cosplays, and some other things that I really think are cool! Be sure to stay tuned, because the list is rather long and varied :)
- How do I know which ones are available
-
Be sure to check the for sale page from time to time, as props available will be posted there!
- Are these metal or "battle grade"?
-
I don't the facilities & knowhow to make actual metal props, weapons, and/or armor. With the exception of things like bolts, screws, and a bit of sheet metal here & there, any metallic elements are actually some other material painted to give a metallic appearance. These are made primarily for costuming & cosplay, and as such, they're not designed with fighting in mind. (ie. chainmail would be aluminum & not galvanized steel, etc), and they're designed to pass the weapons polcies of conventions, which have very strict rules regarding that can be carried and whatnot, and metal weaponry is not allowed at some.
- Can I have/buy your plans, blueprints or molds?
-
Blues, patterns and the like take a loong time to make, and I really don't want to give them away. Same goes for molds, sorry.
- Will you ship internationally?
- Some things I will, but for the most part, if it looks like a weapon in any way, I won't be shipping it outside of the US. Customs may eat it.
- do you take check? Money order? Paypal?
-
Yes, but I will wait a few days for checks to clear first.
- What materials do YOU use to make props?
-
I really like working with wood, namely poplar, pine, and Red oak, though I'll often use something a little more exotic for accents things like gun grips if it calls for it. I'll also work with insulation foam, foamcore, matboard, plywood and other materials that help lighten up some of the larger props.
- What kinds of tools do you use?
-
It depends on the prop of course! I'll often roughcut pieces with a tablesaw, mini bandsaw, and a hand jigsaw. Rough shaping is sometimes done with a belt sanders, but usually I'll work the shape with handtools like a Surform, rasps, and files to get the accuracy I want & avoid cutting too much off. Theres sometmes a Dremel rotary tool in the mix. Much of it is followed with sandpapers, files, and other tools to finetune things before painting.
- Can you make armor & accessories?
-
Yes, I can, but since many of those rewuire body measurements (and therefore customization to fit the wearer), most items would be personal only.
- Why can't I enter competitions for costume craftsmanship using the prop you commissioned?
-
Craftsmanship competitions are designed where the person entering made all the elements of the work and are judged by the craftsmanship of the elements themselves.. its not fair to anyone to bring in something that someone else made, claiming it as their own work in a competition that judges ones work.
If its a contest where commissioned/purchased props are -specifically- allowed, then it'll be okay... but you MUST give me credit for the work when its entered.
- I have a question, but its not answered here..OMG what do I do???
-
Thats when you fire me an email! Send questions to: fevereonREMOVETHIS@gmail.com
(be sure to remove the "REMOVETHIS")
- Why haven't you responded?
-
Really wish I was able to answer all your emails, and if it wasn't annswered in the FAQs I try, but honestly, between propmaking commission work, the convention schedule, and personal stuffs and the sheer number of questions, inquiries, and the like, theres just no way i can keep up with them all. If you don;t hear from me, I apologise!
- will you bear my children??? I'll even throw in a box of tictacs!!!
-
