THE STREGA PROJECT The first entry into this section is the Strega Project.. a fanart of sorts... My goal is to build a model/replica of the F/A-37 Strega fighter from the Sony Playstation shooter, Philosoma, one of my favorite crafts from shooters I don't know how it'll turn out & I think I'm biting off more than I can chew here, but the worst that happens is that I'll have a bunch of spaceship jiblets... ... I could always turn it into abstract art :p...

4-5-03 with most of the references in order, I went to the local hardware store and nabbed some wood planks...I'm going to try out poplar, cuz its a softer wood and easier to carve... I have a feeling this thing's going to be around 2 feet in length... as soon as I finish off two broadswords I'm working on, I'm going to start building a couple simple compenents of the craft, to see if I can even DO this^..

4-15-03 Managed to carve out the fuselage...it turned out okay, and I'm excited to get this done...

4-16-03 screwed up :p

4-20-03 Spent all day in the woodshop..completely lost track of time.. guess what? I messed up again... this time I tried to salvage a piece of wood and...well.... it didn't work :p.. on the good side, I DID manage to carve out one of the sides... even an intake vent (which, of course, I messed up)..the shape looks okay so far, but it needs more work.. pics coming in next update^_^

4-23-03 okay. this isn't pretty, not pretty at ALL.. but it's what I wound up with after roughing the main body out...

4-24-03 got the wings attached and the underbelly carved.. a friend of mine said it looks like a pet... Hover!! Barrelroll!! BLOW UP Monera!!... *pat pat* goooood spaceship..

4-27-03 Gunpods shaped... ready to attach them & start on the engines...

4-28-03 starting to build the upper engines, carving them out was a pain

4-29-03 HOOTAH!!!! ..still needs lower engines tho... and the other gunpod attached... and tweaking...and fittings... and a paintjob...oy... MORE PICS!

5-4-03 o_O oops.. this is out of order... okay... the coat of primer's sprayed over this inital crummy paintjob... after sanding off the tooth marks (so I was braindead.. shoot me.), continuing work goes on...adding some fittings, putting down its initial coats of paint & beginning on the the lower engines ^_^

5-7-03 Lots of work done...was having some difficulty deciding on how to attach the lower engines for ground mode.. went to the local hardware store and picked up little hinges & stuff, but then settled on a simple mech made out of dowel pins & a cut off ruler with holes punched thru em... next stop, fittings!

5-13-03 Woot! finally got the airbrush working (enough).. forgot how messy airbrushing is (wish this thing could be colored with Photoshop...) So here's the beginning of the real paint job... gotta add some more purple to it though cuz its curently WAY too blue...-_-;

5-15-03 O_o uhoh... forgot the main guns....o_O AAAARGH!!!!! in the meantime, here's a few pics of the ship as the painting is underway.. its somewhat tough, for the ship in the game has at least 3 different rendered styles (here's a couple).... the blue is toned down a lot, and I went in & added the fins to the gunpods...had to make them turn, so they're basically screwed on...

5-18-03 well, the project's *finally* nearing completion, and after adding all the engine flaps & installing the top engines, finishing details begin...

5-18-03 "Hey! fev! does that thing have landing gear?" ......... DOH! >.< Wootwoot!! After 1 1/2 months, and a last minute panic when a friend made me realise I needed a base... ....... strega's finally finished!.. the final pictures are here!
